Finno-Ugric

The Finno-Ugric speaking people formed a branch of the larger Uralic languages family. They lived on the Russian steppes, but around the 9th Century CE most of them migrated west. They then split off, many heading north while another group continued due west and settled in Hungary in 898 CE. Speakers of the related Uralic languages moved far east, leaving modern-day descendents like Samoyed in Siberia. Other Finno-Ugric languages not yet represented include Sámi (Lapp).
