Sino-Tibetan

This superfamily is somewhat hypothetical and isn't accepted by every linguist. The question is whether the Chinese languages are a sister branch of the other major family in this area, Tibeto-Burman. Most of these languages are tonal. Some other Sino-Tibetan languages would be Burmese, Hakka, Tibetan, and Wu.
